  • 1858 – Italian composer Giuseppe Verdi's opera "Un ballo in maschera" (A Masked Ball) faced censorship in Naples, leading to significant changes in the libretto before its eventual premiere.
  • 1893 – The world premiere of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's "Symphony No. 6" (Pathétique) was conducted by the composer himself in Saint Petersburg, just days before his death.
