• 1950 – Walt Disney's animated classic Cinderella premiered in theaters, a major critical and commercial success that revitalized the studio after a decade of financial struggle.
• 1954 – The first episode of the radio drama series Under Milk Wood, by Welsh poet Dylan Thomas, was broadcast on the BBC Third Programme.
• 1965 – The current national flag of Canada, featuring a stylized maple leaf, was inaugurated; it is celebrated as a masterpiece of modern minimalist design and heraldic art.
